The following are reports dated July 30, 2009, and Sept. 7, 2008, by Richard C. Porter, a professor emeritus of economics from the University of Michigan. The 2008 piece was an op-ed in the Ann Arbor News and is titled "AATA Fare Should Be 0ยข" while the 2009 piece was given to the AATA board and is titled "What The National Transit Database Tells Us About The AATA." Porter advocated for cutting costs at the AATA.
