On November 13, 1995, Blair Shelton filed suit in the Circuit Court of Washtenaw County asking for the return of his blood sample and DNA records which were collected during the Ann Arbor Police Department's investigation of a series of rapes in Ann Arbor. Case 95-1994 NZ. This is a copy of his lawsuit.
Police took blood samples from more than 160 black men who were seen in the Ann Arbor area during the course of this investigation.
Ervin Mitchell, Jr. was convicted of these crimes and is now serving a life sentence.
