|Title||Report warning about potential failure of unstable slope that supports Nichols Drive|
The University of Michigan and the city of Ann Arbor have received a report from a consultant indicating there could be a failure, in a relatively short period of time, of the slope that supports Nichols Drive near the UM medical center and Nichols Arboretum. "Since the slope has moved and is continuing to do so, the slope is considered unstable and will eventually fail in some manner," consultant SME wrote in an April 14, 2016, memo provided to the university and shared with the city, along with maps and photos. This document was included in the city's 2016 invitation for bids for sewer-lining work in the Arb, as the slope is to be monitored during the work.
